The academic seminar commemorating the 75th anniversary of China-Indonesia diplomatic relations was successfully held on October 3, 2025, at Gadjah Mada University. The event brought together distinguished guests including former Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong, Professor Gao Yanjie (Dean of the School of International Relations/Research School of Southeast Asian Studies of Xiamen University), and senior representatives from Gadjah Mada University.
In his keynote address, former Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda emphasized the historical significance of the 1955 Bandung Conference and its enduring impact on Global South cooperation. Chinese Ambassador Wang Lutong highlighted the importance of the Bandung Spirit in fostering international solidarity.
A significant outcome of the anniversary was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between Xiamen University and Gadjah Mada University to establish a Joint Center for China-Indonesia Relations. The center will focus on collaborative research, academic exchanges, and talent development programs.
The seminar featured expert discussions on socio-economic relations and geopolitical issues, reinforcing the strategic partnership between China and Indonesia. This event marks an important milestone in advancing bilateral cooperation and contributes to the broader development of Global South collaboration.
