The commencement was held in the lecture hall Nanan Building in the afternoon of June 16th 2016. All the undergraduates, postgraduates at home and abroad enjoyed a joyful gathering, to witness the big time. Secretary of the Party Committee of the School Fan Li, Dean Li Yiping, associate Dean Shi Xueqin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School Huang Junqing, head of the Department of International Relations Zhao Haili, deputy head of the Department of Diplomacy and Overseas Chinese Affairs Liu Yong, and other leaders and teachers in the School attended the commencement.
At 3pm master’s degree graduate of the class of 2013 Yao Yuanhui and graduate of the class of 2012 Zhou Nianze hosted the ceremony both in Chinese and English. At the beginning, Dean Li Yiping delivered his speech. With a humorous opening, Dean Li expressed his ardent expectation towards these graduates. His words with wisdom and humor earned him round after round applause. Afterwards, Professor Shi Xueqin representing all the teachers in the School addressed the commencement in English. She recalled the flashbacks and the growth of the students with a tinge of emotion. She quoted Chinese ancient poetry “May we all be blessed with longevity. Though far apart, we are still able to share the beauty of the moon together.”, expecting the continuous friendship between the School and students. Headmaster of the class of 2012 Dr. Yi Yuan also made his address. With drama-free and unadorned words, he expressed his sincere wishes for graduates to have a beautiful and bright future.
Following teachers’ wishes, graduates came to the stage to express their gratitude towards dedicated teachers. International master Alexandra from Russia voiced his excitement and shared his feelings of 3 years’ study in China as well as the longing for future. Graduate representative of the class of 2013 master Zhou Wei recalled his campus live breezily and emotionally. Then he conveyed his appreciation to the school and teachers. Graduate representative of the class of 2012 Lin Dan narrated the compassion and sympathy the school taught her through personal experience.
In cheerful chatting and laughing, in applause and wishes, 2016 commencement of School of International Relations Xiamen University brought to a successful close. Wish every graduate of the School of the class of 2016 a bright future and realize their ambitions!
