



In the afternoon of October 25, 2016, Professor Claudine Salmon, a famous French Sinologist and Professor Leonard Blussé, a famous historian of Holland, were invited to Research School for Southeast Asian Studies (hereafter “the School”) of Xiamen University for an academic visit, and had a talk with faculty and students of the School in 301 (3) Conference Room, Nan’an Building.
Professor Salmon’s research interests focus on Chinese culture and Southeast Asia history. She has been doing field research in Southeast Asia many times. Her speech took the Chinese Cemetery in Southeast Asia as a starting point to introduce the origin and evolution of Chinese culture in Southeast Asia, especially the Indonesian Chinese Cemetery culture.Professor Blussé of the History Department of Leiden University, Professor Wu Fengbin and Professor Nie Dening ofResearch School for Southeast Asian Studies of Xiamen University have been working on the proofreading, editing and publishing of the Book of Public Cases of Batavia Tribunal in recent years. As a representative, Professor Nie Dening introduced the contents and characteristics of the Book of Public Cases in detail and its value of the field of academic research.
At the end of the lecture, Professor Salmon presented to the School a book on the study of Chinese tombs in Southeast Asia. Deputy Dean Shi Xueqin, expressed gratitude and presented the souvenirs on behalf of the School.
