THE Seri Mulia Sarjana School will be conducting its newest theatrical production titled 'Peter Pan, the British Musical', on November 25 to mark both their 20th anniversary as well as to raise funds for thePengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA).
The production will take place at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre at 7:45pm, with tickets ranging from $15, $35 and $100.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Sophia Lim, the chairperson for the production, highlighted that royalties for the production will also go to the Great Osmond Street Hospital in London, as part of the arrangement made with Samuel French and IT&M (London), which is a UK licensing company for various musical plays.
According to the production organisers, intellectual property material for the play, including the music and the lyrics will come from the licensing company and the students and staff will play the parts of Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and other memorable characters from the story of 'Peter Pan'.
'Peter Pan, The British Musical', tells the popular story of a boy who does not want to grow up and his adventure with the Darling children, Wendy, John and Michael in Neverland.
Lim highlighted that the production hopefully would give their students an opportunity to perform in a 'World Class' production as well as to promote the creative arts in Brunei.
While no strangers to creating theatre productions, having staged other productions such as the 'Lion King' in 1999 and 'Aladdin' in 1996, 'Peter Pan, The British Musical', will be something unique to them, according to David Jhoy Sasis V, the show director.
Jhoy Sasis V said that it would be the first time they perform a full fledged musical. Their previous productions tend to be more 'drama' and 'dance'.
Now, he said, their students will have the opportunity to sing as well. Some 50 students and staff was expected to be participating in the production.
The organisers had also highlighted that they intend for the production to be 'world class', and will bring in international consultants for the special effects, which will include flight. Participation, donors and sponsors for the production are welcomed.
