FROM now until March 15, the public can take part in a nationwide competition organised by The Brunei Times in conjunction with this year's 28th National Day celebrations.
Bruneians and residents can put on their creative hats and express their patriotism and love for the nation through five platforms.
The central theme for all categories is "I Love Brunei Darussalam", and the competition aims to allow participants to show their appreciation, commitment and pride to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the country.
The five competitions are painting, essay writing, video, graphic design and photography.
Attractive prizes will be given by four exclusive sponsors: Baiduri Bank, Royal Brunei, Setia Motors SdnBhd and AV Electronics Sdn Bhd.
These include Savings Accounts between $1,000 and $4,000, cash prizes, return air-tickets to Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur and numerous units of iPod Nanos.
For more information on the prizes, the public can log onto www.bt.com.bn.
The painting competition has three categories: for participants under 12 years of age, between 13 and 18 years, and an open category. This is aimed at helping nurture Brunei's promising artists and expand and sharpen their artistic talent.
The essay writing contest has categories for participants under 12 years of age, and 13-18 years. It also has an open category. Entries must be between 150-400 words and can be in either English or Malay.
Both video and graphic design categories are aimed at encouraging budding filmmakers and designers to cast their creativity through these platforms. Video submissions must be 30 seconds in length, with a voice-over either in English or Malay, while the graphic design contest is an open category which will allow designers across the country to craft designs centred around the theme.
The photography category is open to all amateur and professional photographers to showcase photographs that demonstrate their love for Brunei Darussalam.
The closing date for the competition is March 15, 2012.
Interested participants need to log onto www.bt.com.bn to get themselves registered. Terms and conditions for each category are also available online.
