Cambodia

As of 31 December 2009, Cambodia had received $1.07 billion for 50 loans (38 project loans and 12 program loans), $190 million for 13 Asian Development Fund grants (12 project grants and 1 program grant), and $107 million for 158 technical assistance (TA) projects since joining the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 1966. The majority of the assistance has been provided since operations in Cambodia resumed in 1992.


Cambodia, ADB Sign Grant Agreement for the Tonle Sap Poverty Reduction Project

ADB Country Director Mr. Putu Kamayana on 20 September signed a grant cofinancing agreement with Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and ADB Alternate Governor H.E. Dr. Aun Porn Moniroth for the Tonle Sap Poverty Reduction and Smallholder Development Project amounting to 4 million Euros (equiv. to $5.75 million) from the Government of Finland.

The grant is part of the $55.3 million loan and grant funds for the Tonle Sap Poverty Reduction and Smallholder Development Project, which aims to improve the livelihoods of up to 2.5 million people in the Tonle Sap basin provinces of Banteay Meanchey, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom and Siem Reap through productivity improvement, rural infrastructure and capacity development.
Rehabilitation of the Railway in Cambodia Project

The Government of Australia and ADB are working with the Royal Government of Cambodia and other donor partners to rehabilitate the national railway in Cambodia. The existing railway has fallen into a state of significant disrepair following years of neglect and vandalism dating back to the Khmer Rouge era.
