Human Avian Influenza, Indonesia up to 26 November 2005.
Since July 2005 up to 26November 2005, Indonesia has had reported 188 cases (cumulative number) and based on clinical, epidemiological investigation, and laboratory examination the results can be classified as follow: 112 cases Non Avian Influenza, 12 confirmed cases of Human Avian Influenza (of whom 7 died), 63 cases Under investigation (of whom 21 died) and 1 exposured case (no clinical symptom, positive serology examination). details

Vaccines are considered the first line of defence for reducing the excess morbidity and mortality that invariably accompany pandemics. For several reasons, no country will have adequate supplies of vaccine at the start of a pandemic and for many months thereafter. Large-scale commercial vaccine production is not expected to commence until about three to six months following the emergence of a pandemic virus.  details
