"THE Power of Photography Competition 2011" held in conjunction with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Golden Jubilee celebration has attracted 209 entries from photo enthusiasts, where the judging took place here yesterday.
The photo competition, held by The Brunei Times earlier this year, has attracted photo enthusiasts from all over the Sultanate to send in their best works.
Participants were required to submit their photos along the themes of the RBAF 50th anniversary, the Brunei International Tattoo (BIT), and the Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition and Conference (BRIDEX).
The RBAF anniversary theme attracted 55 entries, with the Bridex theme garnering 102 entries and Tattoo theme 52 entries.
The judging process for the photography competition took place yesterday at The Brunei Times head office in Gadong. Among the invited members of the panel of judges on hand for the judging were Hj Md Zailaney Hj Nordin, Hj Md Yussof Hj Md Yassin, Ahim Rani and Pg Heris Pg Mohammad.
Prizes will be awarded to the three best entries of each theme, with the winners of the categories getting a return ticket to an Asean destination, $1,000 cash prize, dinner for two at Rizqun International Hotel, and a 1X13X10 hardcover photo book.
Runners-up of each category will stand to win $800 cash prize, dinner for two at Rizqun, and a 1X8.5X11 hardcover photo book, while the 2nd runners-up gaining $500, dinner for two at Rizqun, and a 1X8X6 softcover photo book.
There will also be an award for Best Overall Photography, whereby the proud winner will get a return ticket to Melbourne, Australia, a 1X20X30 canvas print, and a Body Shop gift basket worth $150.
The results of the competition will be announced at a later date.
The prizes are sponsored by the Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA), the Rizqun International Hotel, Ideal Cafe and Grill, Printerku, and The Body Shop.
